Jon Preston
Dr. Jon Preston serves as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of West Georgia (UWG) where he is responsible for leading the deans and administrative leaders in delivering “first choice” academic programs to over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. This includes promoting UWG’s high-quality, transformative student learning experience to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century and ensuring the university’s curriculum remains vibrant, relevant, rigorous, and meets the highest levels of academic attainment.
Prior to joining UWG in 2020, Dr. Preston served as Dean of the College of Computing and Software Engineering at Kennesaw State University (KSU) and in various leadership and teaching capacities at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU), Clayton State University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Preston led the development of the Computer Game Design and Development program at SPSU/KSU, launched esports initiatives at both KSU and UWG, and initiated Virtual Reality labs at KSU and UWG.
