Join us for our monthly meeting at KSU to learn what duties are available at SIEGE how to volunteer to be a part of the event. In addition, Lee Morin will discuss how to create your own game studio and what is involved.
Show Me the Money: How to (legally) capitalize your projects
This will be a 30-45 minutes presentation delivered by an experienced entertainment lawyer and prior SIEGE presenter, Lee Morin, Founder and Principal, MORIN Entertainment Law. The presentation will focus on basic business issues that need to be addressed in preparing your entertainment project/ business venture for financing, offer guidelines on choosing a business entity structure, plus ways of capitalizing the project.
Questions addressed include:
what is the best type of business entity for my project?
what is finance?
what is a security?
types of securities (Reg A, Reg D, CF, etc.)
types of investors (active, passive)
types of transactions (debt, equity)
other sources of funding (grants, gifts)
Where: Kennesaw State University Marietta Campus, Design Building I2, Room 112. Building I is directly east of parking deck 60. Off campus guests can park on the 3rd floor and above in the P60 deck. Best exit to Design Building is off level 5, top of deck.

About Lee Morin
Lee Morin is an entertainment attorney licensed in Georgia. She operates a law firm, MORIN Entertainment Law, and an agency, Counterintuitive Consulting. Her firm represents primarily independent film, music, and game development clients, but also consults with theatrical stage productions, freelance artists, and writers. Her agency provides music supervision and producer services to those applying for the Georgia entertainment tax incentive programs. Lee produces, writes for, and hosts a YouTube channel, The Lawyer With the Dragon Tattoo, where she teaches independent songwriters and producers how to prepare and pitch their work for placement in moving media, like film, television, and ad campaigns. Her channel is the companion video blog to her podcast, Cinématique™, which showcases music published exclusively by artists on SoundCloud.
Lee is a member of the Entertainment & Sports and Intellectual Property Law sections of the Georgia Bar and several arts & entertainment trade associations. She has presented at SIEGE since 2013 for Intellectual Property 101 and other business and legal panels & workshops. Other notable presentations include “The Fine Line of Fair Use,” for GameVidExpo, “Arts Applications in Games,” for Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, and “Music in Games,” for the National Association of Record Industry Professionals. Lee is the presiding Chair of Programs for Women in Film & Television Atlanta and advocates for music creators’ rights for The Recording Academy®.
